HERBAL AND BOTANICAL LECTURES FOR GARDEN CLUB PRESENTATION

The following programs are offered to Garden Clubs and other organizations.  Please inquire as to fees are based on location and the depth and time of presentation.

“Herbs for Use and Delight”  This program is an overview of herbs in history and the usage of herbs in our times.  Slides, handouts included. Approximately 45 minutes with answer period to follow.

“Grandmother’s Garden” Walk down memory lane and enjoy a renewal of old-fashioned flowers, herbs and shrubs in the garden.  Scented geraniums and other garden “exotics” of Grandmother’s day will be covered as well as a display of garden gifts that the Victorian lady enjoyed.   Contemporary use in the garden will be discussed  and a handout that emphasizes continuous color throughout the season will be given out. The program is approximately  45 minutes followed by a question/answer session.

“Lovely Lavender” Our popular lecture starts with a slide presentation of cultivating and displaying lavender, gives an historical background of lavender usage and moves on to display and discuss many wonderful lavender products.   A 45 minute program is followed by a question and answer period.

“Rosemary for Remembrance” This program is ideal for a club celebrating an anniversary or special occasion.  Rosemary lends itself to such a program being the herb of remembrance.  An historical overview of the plant usage will be covered as well as the use of rosemary in both medicinal and culinary pursuits.  Rosemary topiary will be demonstrated and handouts and recipes will be given.  This is approximately a 45 minute program followed by a question and answer period.

Herbs of the Bible This presentation gives the history of the plants that were mentioned in the Bible as well as discusses the particular uses of the plants.  Cultivation of your own Biblical garden will be covered and recipes based on a Mediterranean (healthy diet) will be offered.  This program is particularly good for a Church group that might be interested in developing a Bible garden.  This program is approximately 45 minutes followed by a question and answer period.
